Common questions
What's the difference between lumber and timber?
We consider "lumber" to be cut boards of any species that are 2" thick (height) or less. Timbers are greater than 2" thick.
What wood species does LeMoyen provide?
LeMoyen provides both hardwood and softwood products. For hardwoods: LeMoyen does not distinguish between hardwood species by product. Hardwood products are offered as "mixed hard wood" and are labeled as MHW. MHW products, both as finished goods, and/or as component(s) included in an assembled product, may consist of a variety of hardwood species (red oak, white oak, beech, ash, hickory and others). For pine products: LeMoyen sources four species of pine trees (loblolly, long leaf, short leaf and slash) and are commercially classified and referred to as "Southern Yellow Pine" (SYP). Please note: CCA treated products are not for use in habitable environments.
What preservative is used for pressure treating pine products?
LeMoyen only treats pine products with Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) which is approved for use in industrial and commercial applications only and that includes any situation in which wood will be in contact with water, soil, concrete or masonry, subject to periodic wetting, or exposed to moisture or high humidity. LeMoyen routinely stocks pine timbers with retention rates of 0.6 lbs./cu.ft., 0.8 lbs./cu.ft, and 2.5 lbs./cu.ft,
Does LeMoyen sell to distributors (wholesale)?
Yes. A current Sales and Use Tax Resale Certificate must be on file with LeMoyen for tax exempt purchases.
